Synopsis

Product Description
With his fourth album, SILENCER, Blake Morgan delivers his most striking and personal collection to date. In the tradition of Nick Drake's 'Pink Moon,' Chris Whitley's 'Dirt Floor,' or Bruce Springsteen's 'Nebraska,' this special album has Morgan performing as never before: solo, in the studio. Morgan returns to his first instrument, the piano, with both new songs and new versions of Morgan favorites, including 'Better Angels,' 'Craze,' 'Danger To Wake You,' and 'It's Gone.' Simple and timeless, these intimate arrangements underscore Morgan's trademark vocals to create an experience that transcends musical genre or era.

Fresh off the successes of his 2005 album BURNING DAYLIGHT, Morgan found himself with new audiences, and new musical opportunities. 'Making SILENCER has fulfilled my desire to make a live record, a solo record, and a piano record, all at once. And, it's given me the chance to revisit and reinterpret some of my songs from previous albums, while debuting new songs I haven't recorded before.'

Setting aside his acclaim as a recording artist, arranger, producer, and founder of Engine Company Records, it is his return to playing the piano--in fact the very upright piano he grew up with--that Morgan is most recently proud of. 'The piano you hear on the record is the same Steinway upright I learned to play on when I was a kid. It has special character, special quirks, and I wanted that for the album. It felt like coming home.'

Whether at home in the studio, on stage, or running his record label, Blake Morgan continues to invent a defiant, visionary future for his music. SILENCER is the next step on a journey as unique as the artist behind it--an artist who welcomes listeners to join him for the ride.
