"Wow. This is one of those albums and bands where, going to review it, I saw no other write-ups, and thought--this is surprise, not condesension- Jesus, how could no one else know about this.

This is Black Heat. They were a funk band on Atlantic in the mid-70s, produced by Joel Dorn, who also among many other albums produced those early Roberta Flack records.

But these guys are NOT Roberta Flack. This is one heavy band--thumping yet funky bass, no holds bar screaming wha wha strats, and lead and back up vocals that give ALL of Black Heat's more known contemporaries a serious run.

If the late 1960s Temptations had taken the inventions of Cloud Nine and dicided to run for the hard rock fences, they would sound like Black Heat.

The lyrics are pretty topical, poverty, gas prices, inflation, all the material you would expect a harda-s-s* funk band to deal with in the early 70s'

This is so good, do NOT let me catch you ignoring Black Heat. I know who YOU are. YOU will be in deep trouble, pal.

*I am not such a goody two shoes. I just don't want to wait three days for this to get published.
