Synopsis

Album Description
Welcome to the Playlist series. We've fished through hundreds of tracks to cherry pick the perfect playlists. Not just the hits, but...the life-changing songs. The out-of-print tracks. The fan favorites everyone loves. The songs that make the artists who they are. You'll no doubt enjoy the sound of the beautifully remastered songs on this CD, unlike the compromised sound of an MP3 file. You might also like the fact that the packages are environmentally-friendly (no plastic, 100% recycled paper). But we think the thing you'll appreciate most about this Playlist is that even though you didn't make it, you might wish you did. This package has been created with the environment in mind. All of the paperboard is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. Of course, we would prefer that you not throw this package or CD away. We would prefer that you keep it in your collection to enjoy for many years to come! Full liner notes, photos, and more included as a PDF file on this CD. Enjoy!

CD Reviews

Anthology PLUS!
Luigi Facotti | Chicago Il | 07/03/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Bill Withers' brief time in the spotlight as a recording artist resulted in several timeless albums and songs that have become standards - "Grandma's Hands", "Lean on Me", "Harlem"," Ain't No Sunshine" and the list goes on. The present CD, Playlist includes some rarer tracks from the "+ Justments" album, that have never been released on CD. The blogs ask the question "why"? and it remains a mystery as to why Legacy have overlooked this gem (similar questions can be asked as to why Tyrone Davis' output on Columbia is represented by 2 CDs, differing by 1 track between them). In any event, in the absence of a CD of "+ Justments" the two tracks presented (out of a total of 10 on vinyl) are a welcome addition to the Bill Withers' CD catalog.

There were rumors last year that Joe Henry was trying to coax Mr. Withers back into the studio - and we can all hope that this might eventually happen given Mr. Henry's work with Solomon Burke."
