Synopsis

Album Description
This Canadian concert was performed shortly before drummer Marty Morell?s departure, and therefore, boasted a well-rehearsed unit. Before Eliot Zigmund?s arrival, Evans would make a duo album with Eddie Gomez entitled Intuition. The concert issued here was one of two performances recorded during that engagement, although not a single tune was played twice. The other concert has been issued on CD under the title of Blue in Green. Our concert, taken from a radio broadcast, has been long unavailable and appears here on CD for the first time ever. As a bonus to this rare concert, we have added the soundtrack from a TV show featuring the same Bill Evans trio, recorded in New York on September 17, 1972. Gambit. 2007.

CD Reviews

Excellent Live Concert
Matt H. Evans | Arlington, VA | 09/13/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I was pleased to see this concert released on CD. I bought the LP years ago when CD's didn't exist. The opening track, Midnight Mood, sets the tone for the entire concert - a gradual opening and things flow so naturally with such a tight sound within the trio. You can also sense that the crowd is really into this concert, making it even more enjoyable. At the end of the concert, the crowd insists on an encoure. Overall, this is a really good concert. Morning Glory, Elsa, and Sugar Plum are a few of my favorite tracks on this CD. Highly recommend this CD if you want a good overall concert where you can sense that the audience and the trio are both really into it - similar to the live trio concerts from Buenos Aires in 1979."
