"This is his last trio, and everything the last trio did (before Fat Tuesdays) was first rate, performance-wise, but if you want better sonics then go for Consecration, Last Waltz or the Warner, Turn out the Stars albums. The Paris Concerts from 1979 also have better sound.

The recording here has subdued piano and drums in the left channel, and a prominent bass in the right.

If you have a way of easily adjusting the volume in one channel you could boost the left and maybe come up with a decent balance."
