Synopsis

Album Description
Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Bill Cruz?s "Spirit Parade" is an eclectic and genre-defying album that seamlessly blends electronic, organic and traditional elements to create its unique sound and mood. The production techniques and stylistic approaches shift as the record progresses, while the songs are strongly unified by a recurring theme: the relationship between physical and spiritual loss. Though the subject matter is inherently dark, each song approaches it from a different perspective and sonic context. The opener, "When Columbus Got To Heaven" spins its allegorical tale in the midst of percolating drum ?n? bass rhythms and ambient guitars. "Black Night Black Moon" begins starkly, driven only by voice and acoustic guitar, and then slowly builds to a crescendo of swirling strings. "Already Been Here" uses drum loops, waltz time and an intimate vocal reading, while "Bullet" features multi-layered vocal harmonies, driving electric guitars and subtle vintage keyboard flourishes. Even though its sound is highly accessible, "Spirit Parade" is a thematically complex album that rewards repeated plays: the listener will begin to identify and connect lyric fragments shared by different songs and understand how the individual stories relate to one another. If the ultimate artistic goal is to communicate and convey emotion, then it has been fully realized on this record. Bill Cruz has produced a compelling collection in every regard: the songs, performances and production are all equally inspiring. The only thing missing here is a clear-cut category to put it in. Listening to "Spirit Parade", you get the feeling that?s exactly how Bill Cruz wanted it.

"Indeed I appreciated the words and emtions in Spirit Parades CD.

I informed my sons about the CD and they listened to it and asked for a copy, then I was so delighted I requested 12 copies to put in Easter baskets for my adult friends. My sons are in their early 20's, hence the music reaches many age zones, truely gifted musican.

While in my car I have played the CD several times and I hear different words, it is like a walk with a dear friend, it touches your senses and makes you smile......pure solace."

"For many of us, music is that magic elixer that nourishes the soul. The best music is very emotional for the listener and not only experienced auditorily, but if it really connects, the other four senses are stimulated as well.Such is the case with Bill Cruz's new work Spirit Parade. Bill fills a niche in today's music scene that is sorely needed. A talented male singer-songwriter that blends acoustic and electronic, rock and jazz into an etheral anthem of poignantly, spiritual lyrics."Black Night, Black Moon" is a perfect example of a song that just plain makes you feel good. A song with such a strong hook that you continue to sing it to yourself throughout the day. "When Columbus Got to Heaven" shows Cruz' sense of humor and his dream-like visions. Musically, the tracks are innovative and well produced. When you listen to Spirit Parade it gives folks like me hope that if you look hard enough, you'll find that the music scene is alive and doing well."
