It has been a long time coming and she deserves so much more .This DISC is a must for anyone who enjoys music in the blues or soul style . It is incredibly recorded which makes it a must for any collector .Her voice is so Strong and the band is tight and rich as well .Drive -by Truckers good work !The more you hear it the more you will fall in Love with Bettye"

"I first heard Bettye LaVette singing, "Love Reign O'er Me" by The Who, on the 2008 Kennedy Center Honors. I love The Who and that song, and was completely floored by Bettye's version. I bought this album and listened to it on repeat for three days straight after the show. There is not one song that I don't like on this C.D. This woman does not just sing. she pours her heart and sole and a whole bunch of emotion into every song.

And Ms. Lavette if you read this please record "Love Reign O'er Me" on your next album. Pretty Please With Sprinkles on Top."
