Between the end of 1958 & late 1960, New York based vocal group The Crests had 9 top 100 hit singles in the U.S. The most well known of these & possibly the most well known Doo-Wop of all time was '16 Candles' the kind of record that Frank Zappa (him again!!) called 'greasy love songs of cretin simplicity' - & none the worse for it. '16 Candles' is the epitome of the American Teen Dream & no 50s revival movie would be complete without it. It was a number 2 hit on Billboard & is of course included in this Best Of package as are all other 8 hits from The Crests. Of the 18 tracks, 12 are digitally remastered. Ace. Similar CDs
