Fun, and educational

(4 out of 5 stars)

"I managed to come across this album in a small underground music store near my home town. When I found out how rare it was, I swiftly went out and picked up the copy because it may have been my only chance to get this CD.
I already owned a copy of Dissimulate, and was just as happy with the music on this CD. The bonus disk really provides some interesting info on the band, so it's surely a must have for some one who really gets into the bands they listen to.
The set up of the bonus disk is basically a commentary on a song, and then some special out isolated track from the song. It also includes 3 live tracks, 2 from their very first show in the US. There is also 2 demo songs, one being one of the famous 'all sampled guitars' that the singer has talked about in reviews (for those who dont know, the singer writes most of the music for the Berzerker, and does so using computers and sampled guitars), so it was very interesting to hear.
The only thing I didnt like about the actual album was the last 3 songs because they are instrumentals, but the album already has 12 full songs before the instrumentals, so its not real draw back.
Also worth of note is the lyrics in the booklet. Some of the words are written backwards, but not in a way that you could hold the book up to a mirror. Words with in one line jump from normal to backwards and back to normal again. It only makes them a minor challenge to read, so it's more amusing than it is annoying.

Edit: After listening to this album a few more times (I first wrote this review right after purchasing the CD), I think that it is worth mentioning that the audio quality is noticeable less than Dissimulate, but not in any serious way (and is also understandable considering the recording situation). Some of the songs aren't as well composed and tend to lose your attention, but the girth of the album is still top notch. It may not be as great as Dissimulate, but it is still a really enjoyable CD, worth finding because of the bonus CD, and worthy of 4 stars."
