CD Reviews

Great Piano Trio
M. P. Wright | HOUSTON, TX USA | 05/01/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you like jazz piano trios or just good, hard swinging jazz, this cd is hard to beat. Every tune on the disc is very entertaining and upbeat. Check out the warp speed version of "Ain't She Sweet". Very reminiscent of Oscar Peterson and Monty Alexander at their best. Highly recommended!"
Swinging Piano Trio at it's Best
M. P. Wright | 03/01/1999
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Being a jazz pianist, I am a particular fan of the jazz piano trio. This earlier album of Benny Green's is an example of a piano trio at it's best. Contrary to Benny's later albums (kaleidoscope), there are no other instruments on this album. The tunes all swing hard and groove. Benny is one of my favorite comtemporary jazz pianists, and this earlier album shows his developed swinging and exquisite arrangements. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the jazz piano trio. Also check out Benny's Testifyin' album - especially if you like live albums."
