"Okay, so I happen to be on the freakin' album, but when I listen to it with a mind cleared of bias, it doesn't decrease in quality. Apart from a few first-album woes, 'Here's the Good News Album' is a triumph: not simply for independently released CD's, but for new pop music. 'Alive Again' speaks volumes about depression, catharsis, hope, and disorientation within three some-odd minutes of crackling power-pop, and the last track is deceptively simple. The stuff in between ain't bad, either."

"First off, I'm a friend/fan of Ben's, so I was pretty much expecting the coolness that was his previous three albums. But what I DIDN'T expect was a new, more developed sound that is quite unlike his previous work (check it out on cdbaby).



1. I Feel Alive Again - (10/10) Affirming. True to life, and a killer opening. *bigthumbsup*

2. That's What I Picture - (9/10) Great lyrics. "Me and my daughter watching the muppets do a classic old routine"....beautiful.

3. Hold Out Till My Angels Come - (8/10) This one take a bit to start up, but it grows on you. The strings meshing with the guitar are great.

4. What'd You Expect - (10/10) One of the best. For anyone who's ever fallen in love, this one's for you. It almost makes me cry when I listen to it, it's that good.

5. You Let Me Down - (9/10) For anyone who's ever broken up with someone, this is how it feels to be jaded...yet remarkably upbeat. 's great.

6. I Think My Girlfriend's Been Seeing Cole Porter - Classic Ben...I love this song, I sing it for auditions. Great arrangement, too. The woodwinds....like buttah.

7. I'm Young - (8/10) 's about being young, how can it by anything but happy?

8. Objectifying You - (9/10) One of those songs that you never quite realize how creepy it is until you stop listening to the music and listen to the lyrics...which is not exactly true, because the music is eerily great. Great arrangement...I think this has coolest vocals on the CD.

9. To Get To The Other Side - (10/10) Beautful song. Makes me cry. I love it.

10. How 'Bout It - (10/10) Great all-around song. Guitar, synth, especially flute, work so well. And the backup vocals with Rosa Tu...yay!

11. I Could Get Used to This - (8/10) A love song, and a happy one!

12. I'm A Cup - (9/10) Starts out slow, but then you listen to the lyrics and get swept up. "...all this time you've been hugging a house"...I lovit!



So yeah, way to go ben. Keep recording, this a great album and I listen to it constantly. yay!
