CD Reviews

Disturbingly good
Timothy G. Roettiger | Alstead, NH | 05/18/2002
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I saw some writing on this group and they were referred to as a "trio of Austrian perverts". I figured I just had to give them a try! This album was a pleasant surprise. It contains all the "black metal" elements: fast drums, unitelligible vocals, etc. But it is also very different. The drums and bass combine, at times, to create an ultra heavy drive that Judas Priest only dreamed of. In between, growling vocals and fast guitar riffs fill out the songs with bells, chants, and reversed voices used effectively for atmosphere. Like an audio haunted house. However, at times, the drums and guitar do get monotonous (the reason for three, instead of four, stars), which is a bit surprising, since overall, this album is quite well produced. But if you are a "black metal" fan you will probably find this album refreshing, buy it. If you are not already a fan of this genre, this album will not make you one. One warning, the cover and other photos included with this album appear designed to offend everyone (as do the lyrics, for that matter). But they do show excellent black and white technique and creativity. They like the rest of this album are disturbingly good."
