Shadows Of Greatness
D. Noble | Vancouver, Canada | 03/31/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Although no longer available through the AD Music Catalogue, the Ambient music label Bekki is signed to, this album is still available for download from Bekki's website - bekkiwilliams dot com. Get it on your iPod NOW, and while you're at it, grab the 4 classical tracks Bekki offers on her website too. Every single one of them is breathtakingly magnificent.

That this album is no longer available is a travesty. It is simply superb, blending carefully structured symphonic layers of melody and rich wall-to-wall sound that inspires, enervates and enriches. It sways from mournful to exotic to pacemaker-busting and back again, leading and enhancing whatever emotion you may be feeling. It's synthesizer melody at its very finest. Download all the tracks, and then please make sure AD Music re-releases this album by pestering admusic dot com. The only reason Bekki is not a regular chart-topper, is a total lack of publicity - no-one knows about her.

This, the second of Bekki's 4 albums to date (as of March 2008) is by far the best, and Talisman in particular. I warn you - it is addictive. I have missed many a road turn-off and work appointment while listening to this engrossing and soul-filling music. Once you learn the mainline melody, you will find yourself realising the bass-line is a very different but complementary melody, and then you'll realise the percussion is pounding out a melody of its own, and then... quite frankly, of the 800+ CDs I own, this is among my very biggest favourites, next to the Beatles (Abbey Road and Help), Beethoven's 6th, Brahms Requiem, Yanni (Tribute), Mike Oldfield (Ommadawn), Alan Parson's (Turn Of The Friendly Card), Pink Floyd (Dark Side Of The Moon), and well, Bekki's other albums - Elysium Fields, Innersense and Edge of Human.

Download now. You will not be disappointed."
