A very classy collaboration, stylish lyrics and phrasing.

"The latest release from "the song bird of Jefferson County". A collaboration with sweetly devastating impact. Some of the tracks demonstrate a vocal style reminiscent of a young Nico without the avant- garde baggage. Celine Dion but with breast, and a soul. Forget the nose . The lyrics cover the range of romance and relations, soulful lovesongs and evocations of the elementary highs and lows of daily life. Deeply personal stories are matched with jazzy rumbles, raunchy grooves, and plaintive whispers creating shifting prismatic colors, textures given over to lyricism, and intriguingly vague tonality. The musician, Johnson, is at the top of his form on a mix of styles that works well, and the modal improvisational technique, makes it a seminal recording."

"This is great music from a very dynamic duo. It is modern with great blend of styles on piano, keyboard and gutar. The singer has great vocal ranges that liven the lyrics, take note when you hear "But the Bed Was Beautiful" and "Refuge". I hope this Los Angeles based duo continues to serve us more great work."
