Smetana that you did'nt recognize.
CAHANA JOEL | Haifa , Israel | 06/11/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"When a music lover hear the name "Smetana",his recollection of this composer goes as far as "My country" and "The Bartered Bride" famous musical excerption, which every one knows and loves. There is though another side of this famous Czech composer that "Supraphon" A Czech records company would like you to be acquaintanced with. Did you know that Smetana wrote a Festive Symphony most of its 4 parts are actually a variation of the famous Habsburgian Hymn ? Smetana was a real Czech patriot but also a loyal subject to the throne . He was mooved by the 1848 events ,but also pay tribute to Law and Order. The diverse side of patriotism and loyalty is enriched with exeptional musical vivid and colourful talent unfortunally remains in the shadow of his copatriot much known composer Dvorak. The famous Czech conductor Karel Sejna is comitted to rectify this obscurity with great success. Great sound although records were made in the 50th. Every one who love Czech vivid and colourful music will enjoy this novelty for a fair price,as I do.."
