THE best alternative to the 2009 remaster hands down

"The poorly mixed songs on the original soundtrack (and 2009 remaster) get the treatment they deserve on this 1999 release. Remixed songs from Rubber Soul ("Nowhere Man" "Think for Yourself") Revolver ("Eleanor Rigby" "Yellow Submarine" "Love You To") and Sgt Pepper (title track - "With a Little Help" "Lucy in the Sky" "When I'm 64") as well as the original soundtrack songs especially "Hey Bulldog" have not been improved upon even with the 2009 remasters. This was one of the few times that Capitol EMI hit a home run with Beatle reissues and remains one of my all time favorite Beatle CDs. The 2009 remaster would be recommended only to those who enjoy George Martin's orchestral scores to the film (and they are not that bad) - for Beatle fans this IS the Yellow Submarine soundtrack to own hands down."

Great Remixes!

"Here we have a collection of reasonably unadulterated remixes, which in most cases sound better than the recently re-mastered versions. Not quite as unsettling for the purists as the "Love" album remixes, but approaching the Holy Grail of a better sounding version of the original. (Try also the Beatles Remixers Group for this sort of thing, they made an admirable remix of Rubber Soul, cleaning up areas like distortion on "Michelle," still evident on the re-mastered version). Subjective opinions will always vary, but I'd buy this for the following reasons:

1. "I'm mad crazy about the Beatles and I want the best version (for clarity) on my stereo or ipod."

2. "I'm a casual listener, liked "Love" and probably won't buy the albums, but want to hear some more."



P.S. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS THE YELLOW SUBMARINE ALBUM FROM 2009/1968. THIS HAS 15 SONGS WHICH HAVE BEEN REMIXED AND IS CALLED "THE YELLOW SUBMARINE SONGTRACK" SEE WIKIPEDIA: [...] FOR FULL EXPLANATION."

"Despite what a bunch of malcontents may shriek high and Holy about the "desecration" of the original recordings, what we have here is no ordinary polishing and remixing of the classic songs, but a complete revelation. The tracks have been slightly remixed using the original multitrack recordings, and on one occasion, Ringo recorded a few beats to give the work authenticity and credibility. In fact, nothing was removed, as the sound of the voices sound clearer than ever before, and on this album you can hear what the Beatles heard back in the studio, which was far from the final product received by the consumers at the other end of the record factory conveyor belt. it is especially disheartening and infuriating at the same time, to see this fine album mistreated, disrespected, and hereby dumped on Amazon to be sold for close to a buck. I'd rather see all incarnations of "Let It Be" or "1" sell for such ridiculously low amounts. I had borrowed this CD from the library not really expecting to hear any miracles, but when I compared this to the crappy Capitol CDs, it was like a deaf man receiving a cure for his afflictions. Rather than disparage this album, fans should be grateful for the team that worked on this with the utmost respect and humility to bring the Beatles' music to the 21st century and to future fans alike. What would your kids say if they heard the 1987 CDs and you told them this is the greatest rock group in the history of mankind? They'd probably laugh at you and tell you to take your Geritol as prescribed. Not so with this baby! Any of these songs here, even the weakest to your taste, sounds 10x better than the latest mierda pop hit out there. BUY THIS ALBUM!!!"
