CD Reviews

BRILLIANT

"I became a Beardfish fan after listening to Sleeping in Traffic 1&2. Both are amazing. Destined Solitaire does not disappoint and has become one of my favorite cd's. Very rich compositions with many unexpected musical turns. There is something about this band that makes music fun and interesting. This is not the type of music that gets boring after a few spins. This is an album that you have to dig deep to get the most of. But the return is well worth it. Overall, another brilliant cd by Beardfish."
One Word: Eclectic

"I love Beardfish's Sleeping in Traffic 1 and 2, therefore I was very excited for Detined Solitaire. The prog rock guys from Sweden did not disappoint. But that is coming from a fan. You see, Beardfish is like no other band I've ever heard. When I first listened to the aformentioned albums, I was at perplexed, then I wondered if they were joking, and then I finally got it. They are truly an amazing band, but in their effort to see how many styles of music they can bring together and still make something enjoyable, Beardfish will likely challenge many a music fan. It is no different on Destined Solitaire. To be honest I can't even begin to describe the numerous things that Beardfish is doing on this album, but I can say that, if you give it a chance, it is very enjoyable."
Cutting Edge Swedish Prog

"After enjoying Sleeping In Traffic parts 1 and 2, I was eager to hear what Beardfish would come up with next. Well, fans didn't have to wait long. Destined Solitaire is an album which further solidifies the band's place in the vanguard of progressive rock.

I like the band's quirky and often Zappa-esqe approach to both the edgy lyrics and the music. But what sets Beardfish apart from others in a similar vein is the singular sound of Rikard Sjoblom's driving, pumping keyboard attack and the dual guitar assault of Sjoblom and David Zackrisson that lifts the listener into the musical stratosphere.

I don't have a favorite cut, I like the whole album. So much goes on here that its impossible not to find something to like about each song. The CD is housed in a trifold digipak and comes with an attractive booklet featuring artwork and those all-important lyrics. If you are a fan of modern prog, don't miss hearing this cutting edge Swedish powerhouse."
