"Another reviewer bagged on the bands incuded here for being cheesy Seeds rip-off bands. For those of us who were part of the LA garage band underground in the 1980s that is high praise indeed (I was a member of the Untold Fables). The Things, as good as they were with their progressive rock/neo-psychedelic sound, were never a Garage Punk band (and never pretended to be). Their exclusion from this CD compilation merely reflects the fact that they probably never fit on the original LP version of this collection. Let's hope that their VOXX LP is issued along with their "BOTG" cut as a bonus song so that their music can stand on its own without having to be erroneously sandwiched in between all of these (great) cheesy garage bands.
This compilation is great for fans of garage music particularly the bands of this time period. Thee Fourgiven, The Gravedigger V, The Pandoras, and The Telltale Hearts are all standout tracks for this type of music. Also of note is the Zebra Stripes song that served as the intro for the Rodney on the ROQ radio show in LA for many many years."
