Synopsis

Album Description
Bad Boy Bill is hands down America's biggest home-bred DJ. Recently voted "America's Favorite House DJ - 2006" by the readers of BPM Magazine (an award which he also won in 2003), Bad Boy Bill has again reasserted his place at the forefront of American clubbing. With Bill's reputation built upon his phenomenal live sets which incorporate extravagant visuals and live dance performances in addition to Bill's fierce turntable prowess, it was only logical for Bill to release his first ever live performance audio/visual set in the form of 'Behind the Decks LIVE.' This CD + DVD release includes the live DJ mix set PLUS a DVD with over 2.5 hours of exclusive multi-media content including the Dolby 5.1 & DTS Surround live DJ mix concert, behind the scenes features, exclusive visuals, interviews & more. Packaged in a deluxe digipack with a 12 page tour booklet.

CD Reviews

Blows BTD out of the water
e-man | Norfolk, VA | 10/20/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I picked this up the day it came out at a local music store because I didn't wanna wait for Amazon to ship it to me, I was -that- excited. I wasn't let down by any means. If you own BTD, you'll see a considerable improvement in the DVD side of things. The constant concert footage on the DVD adds alot to the experience. For the CD, it's more...how should I put this...realistic. I don't wanna say BTD was made completely in studio, because I've seen BBB move that fast, however, you actually get to enjoy a track before moving into the next with this new album.

One thing it doesn't have is a handful of tracks by JJ Flores and Steve Smooth. There are a few, and they're all worthwhile tracks, but you'll see more variety on this album.

If you've seen BBB live in the past year, you'll recognize a few notable tracks, like Teasing Mr. Charlie vs House ain't givin up, which will bring back memories.

Overall, I highly recommend it to anybody who just wants a solid house party CD."

"My boyfriend and I picked this up at a BBB/JJ Flores event in town. Definately worth the cash we dropped on it. The live tracks are great (clearly, it's bad boy bill!). BBB is definately an essential house DJ, and if you like anything he's done, BTD is an excellent choice."
Excellent House Mix

"Bought this on day 1. I must say that i am biased, as BBB is my favorite DJ so i have been pretty much anticipating this for 3 years now. That being said, he definately delivers. I was a little worried when i heard his new mix was going to be live because i love studio mixes as they add something you cant really get live (i can see him live all the time, so i sometimes want something a little more produced and thought out). But i am definately not dissapointed with this. a perfect representation of what you get at a live show. The dancers, the videos, the mixing are all top notch. I am actually happy that he released this like this as its like having him mix live right in your living room, and the DTS soundtrack delivers. If you saw BTD, then you should already know what type of extras to expect on this dvd. As far as the music goes, hes always changing his style and that is a good thing. These tracks all sound good and none of them feel out of place. I loved every minute.

a few cons: -no dual copy scratching (i love tricks like this and BBB is the best at them). there is scratching, but simple tricks and nothing over the top. i wanted a little more, but i usually do as tricks like this bring the energy up for me.

-no surround sound mix. let me rephrase that, as there is a surround sound mix to it, only the music isnt 5.1 as BTD was. the surround channels only have the crowd and give you a sense of being at the club. Its awesome for this type of mix (a live mix), but after hearing BTD blasting in DTS 5.1 with scratches jumping from speaker to speaker, it feels a little like taking a step back.

overall: incredible. this is the reason why he is my favorite, he always brings top notch music and a top notch vibe. i recommend to anybody that likes house music to pick this up."
