CD Reviews

Great quality CD

"I have heard these concerti performed live many times over the years and I really like Schiff's performace. Strong, energetic, yet sensitive. Some may say that Schiff can over-do the marcato, but not this time. They are my favorites. Bach's work is amazing, and Schiff & Co do it very, very well.

Essential fare for the Bach enthusist."
It's Bach - nuff said....

"Not only great performance of timeless classics but you get the first of "The Abandoned Set" as Concerto No.7 (there is no concerto #7, only 1-6 solo concertos for Harpsichord - what they are calling "No.7" is actually the first "The Abandoned Set" according to Wikipedia).

These renditions are on the slower, more "careful" side of Bach interpretation. To some listeners these more moderate tempi (in the Alegro movements that is) may seem to lean toward Bach's more "ponderous" side of how he can be interpreted. Not a criticism, just an observation. If you want it to "move along" a bit more then try Murray Perahia - for example his Keyboard concertos 1,2 & 4. Brilliant, brilliant!"
