"Perhaps it helps to live in Seattle, home of Baby Gramps, and to have been exposed in my youth to his frequent festival performances, but I admit to loving this eccentric, gravel-voiced, extravagantly-bearded performer. "Same 'Ol Timeously," which is aptly subtitled "Vocalisthenics & Stunt Guitar," is probably his best album. It contains some of his most well-known songs, including "Palindromes" and "Teddy Bear's Picnic." Gramps plays his Resonator guitar with herky-jerky abandon and sings like a stuttering Popeye on drugs, but this only adds fun to the traditional, novelty, and children's tunes he favors. Give this CD a listen. Gramps is sure to raise a smile for kids of all ages."
