Synopsis

Product Description
Ayelet Rose Gottlieb is an international performer, an explorer of sound and seeker of musical adventures. Her unique blend of jazz, middle-eastern & Jewish music, combined with her innovative approach to composition and improvisation, has led her to collaborate with some of the most imaginative musicians of our time, including John Zorn (composer), ETHEL (string quartet), Anat Fort (piano), Avishai Cohen (trumpet) and Ihab Nimer (Oud). She has released three critically acclaimed CDs featuring her original compositions: Internal External (Genevieve, 2004), Mayim Rabim (Tzadik, 2006) and Upto Here | From Here (Arogole Music, 2009). A member of John Zorn s a-cappella quartet Mycale, the group is currently working towards recording a second album of Zorn s music for his series Book of Angels: Masada Book II. Ayelet has performed at Carnegie Hall (USA), Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada), Novara Jazz Festival (Italy), The Jewish Museum (Germany), Tel Aviv Jazz Festival (Israel) and more. Recently, she was commissioned by installation artist Michelle Jaffe to compose & produce music for Wappen Field, a sound-sculpture installation, to be presented at Rutgers University in 2014. Her new album, Roadsides, takes the listener on a musical journey to the heart of contemporary Israeli and Palestinian poetry. Ayelet Rose Gottlieb composed music to poems by Agi Mishol, Mahmud Darwish, Roni Somek, Naomi Shihab Nye (and more), presenting her unique sound. Special guest Israeli pop-star Alon Oleartchik (Kaveret) adds to accessible nature of this project, as Ihab Nimer enriches the textures with the lush sounds of his Oud and Violin rooted in Arabic music traditions.
