CD ReviewsThe melodic metal guitar wizard at his best 06/02/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "When this CD first arrived, my initial reaction was "oh no what's happened to Jeff Scott Soto". There was a new singer by the name of Johnny Gioeli peering at me from the inlay. I started to listen to the album and was hit by this guy's voice. Similar to Mr. Soto's, it was incredible, the best I've heard for a long time. This has to be Axel Rudi Pell's finest album to date, his guitar playing is magnificent, the best yet. The songs are incredibly well constructed with six of the ten tracks lasting over six minutes. The highlight of the album has to be the track "The Gates Of The Seven Seals" which is similar in style to "Black Moon Pyramid", "The Land Of The Giants" and "Casbah" from previous albums. Perhaps the most interesting track is the 9:36 long "Ashes From The Oath" which begins almost as a ballad and slowly builds in speed and complexity, showing Axel's guitar and song writing prowess to the full.If you like Axel's previous albums this is a must have CD, if you have never bought one of his, you could ask for no better introduction.Highly recommended."
