Synopsis

Album Description
Digitally remastered two CD release containing three and one half albums from the above-average Scottish Funk band spread across this double disc set. Recorded in Nassau in 1979, Feel No Fret was an instant hit on both sides of the Atlantic. The band had started recording the follow-up album with producer David Foster when they decided to switch record labels. Atlantic Records wouldn't let AWB take the tracks with them, and in 1980 issued four tracks as Volume VIII (with five greatest hits on side 2). We have added bonus track "Miss Sun" from the same sessions. AWB started afresh with Foster to create the standout album Shine (1980). For the last album by the original line-up, the band enlisted Dan Hartman as producer ("Instant Replay", "Relight My Fire"). Issued in 1982, it features the singles "Cupid's In Fashion" and "You're My Number One", as well as a cover of the Four Tops' "Reach Out (I'll Be There)". Edsel. 2009.

CD Reviews

AWB, SOME MIGHT SAY, AT THERE BEST
Dell | Moreno Valley, Ca | 10/13/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"When it comes to the Average White Band I was some what of a late bloomer. Sure I liked "work to do", "a love of your own" "if i ever lose this heaven", but alot of the things they did, let's say, i didn't get it. I never got it, until "Shine". Let's say "Shine" was after the hey days of the Average White Band, one might say. I say it was some of there best stuff. "Let's Go'Round Again", til this day, my favorite AWB song. Yea there's plenty more "help is on the way", "if love only last for one night", "for you for love". Not only did I get "Shine" again, there's "Cupids In Fashion", even AWB themself didn't like that one, but let me tell you, it's some great songs on this one too "you wanna belong", "is it love that your running from". Then there's "Fell The Fret", another great cd nobody ever heard, but those late blumer like me. "ace of heart", "too late to cry", "loves gives, loves takes away" want more? Here comes "growing pains", you'll keep your thumb on the repeat button for this one...I did. After this cd bonanza, you might be ready to take another AWB giant step, you might be ready for "Soul Tatoo", enjoy."
