Synopsis

Album Description
The label formerly known as Functional Breaks: Functional returns to drop the latest installment of their superb Beatz & Bobz mix album series this time with Jay Cunning & Atomic Hooligan at the helm. Beatz & Bobz is officially the worldâ??s longest running monthly breaks event, based in Exeter and is part of the Functional empire set up by local promoter Biff Mitchell. The monthly club night has been responsible for pushing the sound of breaks (and beyond) in the west country and in itâ??s 8 years has repeatedly featured the whoâ??s who of the scene and has gained a nation wide reputation for itâ??s no messing, quality nights out. For those that donâ??t know, Jay & Atomic Hooligan (Terry Hooligan and Matt Welch) run â??Menu Musicâ?? a label and concept for throwing the biggest parties, playing the baddest tunes to the most up for it crowds around and when this duo are on the decks, you certainly knows it. Their â??6 decks & FXâ?? sets are the stuff of legends. Back to the mix, from the MC led intro (recorded at one of their infamous 6 deck sets in Russia in front of 12,000 ravers!) you know this is something special. The album is killer from start to finish featuring just the right mix of slamming breaks mixed up with the biggest party tunes (for the laydeez) and Terryâ??s mad scratch skillz giving this mix the edge that many programmed and dare I say â??Pro Toolsâ?? mixed albums seem to lack. Put simply, it rocks.
