CD Reviews

Great music, excellent album. But for $29 bucks?

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Full Circle would have nailed a five star review from me. But with the Jill Scott (Amalia) and Omar (Mr. J) knock-offs in the first two tracks of this album, I still don't understand why phenomenal electronic producers continue to use singers who sound like singers who should have been on their song or album in the first place. Because of this, it somewhat cheapens the album for me.

Nevertheless, Full Circle is a fantastic array of melody, percussion and soul from Martin Iveson -- Atjazz. This album bobs and weaves between the worlds of soul and electronica with precision and eloquence and never skips a beat in doing so. With a short list of guest artists such as Clara Hill and Robert Owens contributing on this project, it certainly makes up for the absence of substantive vocals that were noticeably missing from Atjazz's Labfunk album. Full Circle is a sharp, clean and brilliant piece of music to cruise to on those warm and sunny Saturday afternoons.

Now, aside from the asthetics of guest artists, my CORE issue with this album is Amazon's price which is FAR much less to be desired. Even though this album is being sold as an import, $29 dollars is ALOT of cash to drop on a CD that has less than 12 tracks. However, I enthusiastically recommend this album, and don't let the price deter you from purchasing it. iTunes is offering the album WITH a bonus track for $9.99. Go There! Maybe Amazon will start taking notes and join the rest of the digital world of affordable music.
