Not quite the same Asmegin

"With Asmegin's debut album in 2003, I believe they set the standard with Scandinavian Folk Metal going a step further than Korpikklanni and Finntroll. Now anyone expecting another album that's in your face brutal and fast paced, be fore warned that THIS ALBUM IS NOT THAT. Instead Asmegin (with a new vocalist, drummer, and bassist) is heading down a different path. The folk music is a little more prevalent in ARV than in Hin Vordende Sod and So. Now this album may grow on me but I was completely surprised to hear their new sound. Not at all what I expected. Some songs do have a nice 'feel' to them but not what I was hoping with this sophomore release. No more high pitched black metal screams, the death metal growls still exist though. But that continuous excitement you got from listening to the first album has truly departed. I'm trying not to be overly critical, because I'm sure I'll grow to like this album as much as I rated it. Just make sure you preview these songs before you buy. And if you've never heard of their first album check it out. One of my all time favorite albums ever!"
