A musical trip to Nova Scotia

(5 out of 5 stars)

"It is now 12 days after Christmas, and I'm still listening to this CD in my car. While there are traditional tunes included, there are enough that are unfamiliar that are beautiful, and not over done so that I want to keep listening. I think that might be a clue that I should investigate more from Ashley MacIsaac! Traditionally, I am a fan of bluegrass, but at a recent festival I was "turned on" to the Cape Breton sound. This was a blind choice in this genre and as it turns out, an excellent one. The fiddle work and complimentary accompaniment is just remarkable, and lo and behold...I hear the pipes. Surprises with every song, and ones that leave you humming along, tapping your toes, and wanting more."
