7 CDs, 10 Hours of Music - Complete Aural Pleasure!
L. Brown | Los Angeles | 10/23/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Take EMI Classics, one of the premier record labels in the world, mix in great composers like Wagner, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky, add the 20th century's greatest conductors like Furtwangler, Beecham, and Klemperer, and you have nine hours and 54 minutes of a classical music education that's difficult to duplicate.

This seven CD set (including the bonus disc) features superb sound quality (the discs are made in Holland and the remastering is neither too thin nor too bright). Liner notes are not as extentive as I would prefer but are, nonetheless, excellent. The booklets feature sharp photography, translations in English, German, and French, and a solid history of each conductor.

Classical music is only as good as the conductor and the orchestra. With the conductors featured on the box set, one will hear some symphonies as never before, picking up little nuances, and pleasantly surprising oneself with the rediscovered joy of the fabulous world of classical music."
