"The trumpet player's last name may be Hardman, but it's Jackie McLean's hard-edged, sharp-sour alto sound that makes this the hardest hard bop you're likely to encounter. There's so little of Bill Hardman on record that I'd have to recommend this session, even though the extended unison lines, especially on "Stella" and "My Heart Stood Still," are somewhat excruciating to listen to. Take a look at "Reflections of Buhaina" (Hardman is featured throughout, McClean only on the first half) ahead of this one.

[Hard to say whether the advertised disk is the same as the original session on Columbia called "Hard Bop." The list of tunes is accurate, but Amazon's Product Details and Editorial Reviews--of a 2-disk set and with different musicians--refer to some other recording.]"
