CD Reviews

Excellent piece of epic symphonic power metal.
Hugh Dalton | Roanoke, VA USA | 01/10/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Luxaeterna is a "rock opera" concept album based on the creation of the world, in their own idea. Telling of God's and Goddesses creating the world and then of Gaia creating mankind and so on and so forth. Each song is dedicated to a different aspect of the genesis, and though the lyrics at certain points can seem a tad trite, the lyricist did not do a bad job with it overall.

Musically, this album is off the charts. Production is impeccable and the musicianship at points is beyond description. Very classically influenced, drawing specifically from Mozart and other composers of the classical era, yet they keep their music fresh enough (notice some native influence in songs like "Here comes the light" as well as other latin beats and ideas incorporated throughout the effort) to keep you entertained and heavy enough to keep your head banging. The drums are solid and keep things upbeat and the guitarwork is clever without straying too much from the genre. My only qualm is with the vocals, and though they are definitely good, the vocalists voice can get a little grading after a couple songs, but the voice is still excellent with fantastic range.

Overall, if you like symphonic power metal with some progressive elements and bands like Angra, Rhapsody, Symphony X and the like then you will like this album."
