Haunting, surreal, driving

"This is simply an amazing record. Driving percussion, searching, sublime vocalisations and texts by Rumi along with local songs of the Pamiri Tadjhiki region of Tadjhikistan where Aqnazar hails from. The fellow's voice is simply outstanding; as an indicator, they had to use 4 mics to record his singing.
Reminds me of what medieval Sufi dirges must have sounded like. P"

"Made up of starkly simple folk songs, the subtle use of echo and instrumental atonality give this CD a riveting edgy avant-garde feel, similar to (but more authentic than) Muslimgauze's best work. Aqnazar's emotive voice soars above all. A brilliant and powerful CD which only grows on you more with each play."
