CD Reviews

Give credit where it's due.

"Rise, by The Answer, is a cd that is sure to withstand the test of time and become a rock classic. It is an excellent cd through and through.

I am in good company in thinking this, as people long before me have given them their accolades too.

So, what do I mean by "Give credit where it's due?" I hear too many people say how The Answer sounds like Led Zeppelin and AC/DC, and others go as far as to criticize them for it and call them clones or unoriginal. Well, I agree that they have strong resemblances to both of those bands. I even hear the riff of Black Sabbath's song Paranoid on the 7th song of Rise, Into The Gutter. Just listen to the opening riff and any Sabbath fan will hear it too. I hear riffage from various blues greats as well. So there is no arguing the similarities and influences in their music.

However, they also have a uniqueness that must be appreciated, as well as the talent to play music that we associate with our rock legends. Think about how hard it is to develop the skills that are necessary to capture and unleash music that sounds similar, yet different, in quality to some of the best bands the world has ever known. Hmmm. It's a stellar achievement! Strong work Boys!

The Answer has blended their influences, personality, ideas, and talent to stand on their own and create a unique style of music that rocks.

For those who don't understand, every musician has been influenced by other successful musicians. Consequently, their music has similar flavors.

It's just like every occupation. What do you do for work? Didn't you emulate others who succeeded, or did you invent the wheel? No, in some ways, you copied someone! A good cardiac surgeon became so by learning from other good cardiac surgeons. Are you going to fault someone for becoming a good cardiac surgeon because they emulated what the other ones successfully did? No. Just as we need more trained surgeons, we need more solid rock bands that were schooled by their successful predecessors, just like The Answer!

They have all the elements of a great Rock & Roll band. All members are artistic, skilled, and passionate. I know. I saw them live at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California. Being a hard-rocking musician myself, I am a tough dude to please when it comes to rock music, and they impressed me. All the band members had a chance to share the limelight and showcase their skills. Each of them earned my respect by displaying their individual abilities, as well by being a cohesive band that really plays tight.

Get Rise, and any others cd's you find from The Answer. If you're a fan of good solid rock music, then you'll like The Answer.

Rock hard,

Scott
