During World War II band leader Ambrose signed up Anne Shelton as a replacement for forces sweetheart Vera Lynn who was leaving the band. Anne was to help Ambrose to achieve many of the chart entries they achieved during the 1940's. During the 1950's Anne made a number of albums with the great Wally Stott Orchestra, two of which are featured on this CD. Wally Stott a. k. a. Angela Stott had a prolific musical career in film and television creating the musical scores for 'Dallas' and 'Dynasty' and working with John Williams on the sountracks scores to 'Star Wars', 'Superman' and 'the Empire Strikes Back'. Perhaps her most celebrated work was creating the music for the animated movie 'Watership Down'.
