Synopsis

Product Description
During World War II band leader Ambrose signed up Anne Shelton as a replacement for forces sweetheart Vera Lynn who was leaving the band. Anne was to help Ambrose to achieve many of the chart entries they achieved during the 1940's. However the recordings on this CD not only feature her performing with the Ambrose Orchestra, but with the orchestras of Glenn Miller, Jay Wilbur, Stanley Black, Wally Stott and Camarata. Anne was a guest on four of Glenn Miller's radio shows whilst he was entertaining the troops in England. Glenn Miller suggested that when World War II was over Anne she should go Stateside and work with him, but with Glenn's demise this was not to be, however Anne did go to the USA in the fifties and was a great success, sadly it was not with Glenn Miller. On this CD she sings a selection of American standards which she might have performed with Glenn Miller's Orchestra had he survived.
