Anna's first cash-in

"Wreck Of The Day (2006). A re-release of Anna Nalick's debut album.

In 2005, female singer-songwriter Anna Nalick released her Top-20 charting debut, Wreck Of the Day. It showed that there was more to pop than money-raking MTV rap stars and emo boy bands clogging up radio time, and it showed that Anna was truly a force to be reckoned with. Only one year after WOTD's original release date, this album already gets re-released. How did this turn out? Read on for my review...

Well, as another reviewer here put it, I didn't expect Anna to put out year-old material and repackage it just to grab more money from her fans. This is essentially the same album as last year, with three unreleased demos and a new spin on the title track. If you haven't bought the original, stop reading and BUY THIS NOW. This is the ideal version to own.

To fans of the original, however, is this worth buying again? Well, I don't really think so. The new spin on the title track is faster and more pop-driven than before and loses the desperate, towering feel of the original. As far as the demos, "Drink Me" was already released in Japan, so that leaves the other two tracks, "Soldier" and "More Than Melody". Despite leaving promise, they're still....demos. They lack the production quality and direction that the previous songs do.

In any case, those wanting to check out Anna or are REALLY itching to drop another $15 on the extra tracks should probably go for it. Those looking for new material should just wait; latest news has Anna announcing that she'll be heading back into the studio come November."
I'll Take Another...

"I bought the original wreck of the day about a month after it was released and it is AMAZING. I was so excited for new songs that I bought this album too. Don't get me wrong, the new songs are REALLY good too. I just wish I would have known you can buy them on iTunes.

My advice:

If you do not own the original Wreck of the Day--buy this one instead

If you DO own the original--buy "Wreck 06" "more than melody" "drink me" and "soldier" off of iTunes. (the album artwork is NOT worth your money).

Also...

If you like "Breathe 2am" and are not sure if you should buy an Anna album at all, my advice is DO. Breathe was the only song I had heard from her (and I only heard it once) before i bought the album"
Worth it, trust me!

"This extended album was definitely worth spending the extra few dollars for. Anna is awesome. This music stays with me even after the CD is over. I find myself humming "Wreck of the Day" at work! She is the next big singer to hit the airwaves. I just wish they'd play more of her songs on the radio so she can get the attention and appreciation she deserves."
