"The Animal Collective are a stunning band. They have been concocting their own brand of psychedelic music, while making sure each album makes a creative progression from the last. There are some aspects of their music that do remain intact however, such as the slower wondering ambient pieces and the tribal drumming but that acts as a sort of trademark of the AC sound. On their 7th release 'Feels, the progression from Sung Tongs is quite obvious. 'Feels is the Animal Collectives latest full length album and is the source from which the song Grass was taken. On this single "Grass" is nessled comfortably next to 2 other previously unreleased songs. They are called "Must be Treeman" and "Fickle Sycle". The former is a slow moving ambient song with vokles that sound like elves mumbling surrounding a sample of an old man on a farm talking about picking berrys for Pefferige Farm Muffins. Everything is pushed along by a loop of a calm piano riff. The later is an energetic piece drivin by a bass drum from a drum machine thumping and panda bear Playing the rim of his floor tom over it. The vokles fill me with joy do to their child like anthuziasm. Oh, and I can't forget about the synth, piano, and guitar providing their catchy symple melody. If 2 new songs isn't enough to get you to buy this single, they have alsow included a DVD with Videos for Grass, Who Could win A Rabbit, and Fickle Sycle, all of which are very interesting. There is alsow a video that goes along with kind of a hodgpodg of AC's songs that is really cool. I Recommend this single and all 7 of their albums. Oh, and look out for a reissue of their lost 2001 live album called Holindagain. out later this year on the bands own lable Paw-Tracks. It is said to contain some of their best material to date."
