CD ReviewsClassic Aussie Rock! 06/23/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "One of Australia's greatest pub bands, this is the Angels in top form. Much like AC/DC, the Angels seem to work to a formula, so you'll never be surprised by the music, and if you like the formula you'll seldom be disappointed. There's nothing light and airy about this album, it's all dark rock, with the pick being "Man There", and the disappointment probably "We Gotta Get Outa This Place", which is a cover anyway." "Did You Hurt Somebody" and "Standing Over You" would both make any Angels compilation I'd ever make, with "Can't Take Anymore" and "Man There" sliding in as alternates, but overall this collection is a fairly tepid addition to the excellent early Angels catalog. Regardless of the middling cover of We gotta get outta this place (which was a top ten single in their homeland of Australia), the rest of the album sizzles! When The Time Comes is a killer blast of guitars, and Man There aptly portrays the paranoia and drama of unrequited love. MCA (now Universal) could have released this in america, but after the lack of success of TWO MINUTE WARNING, they chose not to - bad move, as this was a number one album in australia! It would be 4 years before the next (and last) major label took another shot at breaking the Angels in america. An essential album in their canon, it's a good starting point for new fans."
