A Gentle Escape

"From the opening, gorgeous chord, which Geraissati allows to linger like a wave on an uncrowded beach, this album draws you in. This is no raucous beach party in Rio, however. This is a sedate, long afternoon on a deserted ihla off the coast, where you've been dropped off and they'll be back to pick you up later.
Geraissati is a fabulous guitarist, with a deft touch and a strong ear for composition. The music is evocative without being cloying. For the most part, the Brazil-ness of the sound is implied, not explicit. He reminds me much of Preston Reed, without the percussive effects.
For us, this is a wonderful Sunday morning disc -- it engages our senses without overwhelming them, and gently urges us into our day."
