CD Reviews

A Lot of the Same Old
Germaine Manuel | Brooklyn, NY USA | 09/03/2008
(3 out of 5 stars)

"The three men's voices are very good, though of popular rather than operatic caliber, and they sing with great enthusiasm, notwithstanding some flatness of pitch at times (e.g., during "Volare"). The repertoire on this CD is nothing new (except perhaps for the Italian version of "La Danza" which is probably the best track); they could have been more original, which would have enhanced the overall quality of the recording. The arrangement of "O Surdato 'nnammurato" is peculiar (to my ear) and spoiled what is one of my favorite popular Italian songs.

I wouldn't mind hearing more from this trio but would appreciate some originality of repertoire."
