Superb In Every Way

"If one must rank recordings (and most of us do), I hold this one in the highest esteem and echo the accolades of the earlier reviewers. I think that, for me, this is the best recorded performance of AC, given 50 years of listening to and studying their music. Everything works; all come together to create a unique universe of sound. Even the solo guitar is spot on, including the young Seth Putnam, who sings lusciously smoothly and has not yet started to bark. But no matter how one ranks or doesn't rank performances of this or any AC recording, this one is among the best and not to be missed. The sound is superb, by the way, and to my ears better than many earlier AC recordings, with perhaps the exception of the 1997 tour de force "I Like It When You Die", and quite possibly 1994's timeless "Everyone Should Be Killed". Nevertheless, "Defenders of the Hate" is a critical, puissant offering should be enjoyed repeatedly, and when the CD is not in the player, one should cuddle it and stroke it, and lick on it like a fine French sorbet."

"A.C. had been all I could listen to lately and I didnt know why. I recently went to buy some cds and just looked to see if they had any of this bands music. I do own all the cds, just wanted to see if they had any. I was so happy to see this record in the bin. I looked on the back and burst out laughing in the record store. The some of the funniest song titles A.C. have ever written are on this cd. Sure his singing isnt so great but I love it. They are suppose to release a cd of new material (this being old material), so I hope A.C. releases anther cd by the years end. Thanks Seth for making me laugh when I need one."
