CD Reviews

AMG's 2nd Solo & his best
G$ | B-More, MD | 02/07/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"AMG is back 3 and a half years after his debut with a strong 10 song second album. My favorite of his 3 solo albums even though it runs only about 45 minutes. Guests are on 3 songs, and the beats are funky (like mostly all of the rappers that are down w/ DJ Quik) but AMG produced the whole album himself and did a very impressive job, but it doesn't feature any of his normal clique (like his other 2 albums). It has 2 classics, 2 good songs, 4 average songs (2 would be much better with no guests on them) and 2 that I skip. A good album for that west coast pimpish, upbeat music fans.

#1 - 10 (CLASSIC w/ great upbeat production)

#2 - 10 (CLASSIC & my all time favorite AMG song -- great beat as well)

#3 - 7 (has the "Juicy" beat)

#5 - 8 (f/ jiboh & hittage -- would be better w/out the guests)

#6 - 8.5 (good beat)

#7 - 7

#8 - 6

#9 - 7.5 (upbeat song -- f/ hittage & lil tee -- again it would be much better w/ no guests)

#10 - 6.5 (f/ jiboh)

#11 -7.5

Very well put together
ez cash | Scottsdale, AZ United States | 08/11/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a very good album; in my opinion, his best. Every song is good and still has an up to date sound. Most of it is AMG's normal talk about girls, money and sex, which he always does a good job with. Compared to his first album, the sounds of this album are very new skool and pimpish. I first got the tape back in '95 and it was ahead of its time; couldn't take it out of my walkman. Every song on here is a song you can cruise to in your car with extremely heavy bass. There are quite a few songs on this album that would have got radio play across the country today if rap/gangsta/underground rap were as widely liked and respected back in '95. My only gripe is that it only has 10 songs, but they are ALL tight a$$ beats and good rap to back it up. Perfect west coast album.BR>If you still don't believe me, download #2 off this cd: "It's a 304 Thang". They are all just as tight."
My favorite AMG Joint
Ol Skool | Amarillo, Tx | 11/03/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is my favorite AMG CD but this joint didn't get much airplay where I'm from (Ama,Tx) but I did bump the song "Butt Booty Naked" on the college radio station and got mad props back in 96. "Pimp of the century" is my favorite cut. The whole Cd is funky. Not bad for not having a DJ Quik production on it but just imagine if Quik did produce this joint..Whewww!"
