CD Reviews

Another re-packaging of the 1982 King Biscuit performance

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Buyer beware. This is just another re-packaging of the 1982 King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show performance. The songs are the same, they just re-suffle the order, which tends to mess-up the performance a little. That performance has been re-packaged and renamed about 4 or 5 times.

That being said, it is a very good performance and if you do not have one of the previous releases, I highly recommend this one. It was recorded in 1982 for the King Biscuit Flower Hour syndicated radio program. Despite the cover picture, this was when the band was a duo (Gerry Beckly and Dewey Bunnel), Dan Peek left the band in 1977 and does not appear on this CD. The performances are very good and really rock. Their comeback hit, "You Can Do Magic" had just been recorded and was still new. The versions of "Here" and "Sandman" on this CD really rock! This is truly a classic rock performance!"

"This is an import album that is the same as the 1995 King Biscuit America In Concert album although the songs are in a different order. The songs come from a performance at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on September 4, 1982. Playing with Gerry and Dewey were Willie Leacox (drums and percussion), Brad Palmer (bass guitar), and Michael Woods (lead guitar). It is a solid performance. Here is the song listing:

Sandman

Ventura Highway

California Dreamin'

Old Man Took

Tin Man

Daisy Jane

Here

Love On the Vine

I Need You

Sister Golden Hair

Inspector Mills

You Can Do Magic

Horse With No Name

Never Be Lonely
