CD Reviews

Babae!! (Wonderful!)
J. Small | PA | 08/24/2005

"First of all, this is not a CD of chant. Most of it, as you can see from the song list, is polyphony (meaning not all of the singers are singing the same notes and melody). The recording has a great sound that makes the listener feel that he or she is actually standing in the Palais des Papes 650 years ago. If you have ever been to Avignon or just love medieval sacred music, you should give this CD a listen."
Well Done

"This is a great chant CD. I am a middle school music teacher and I use this for several different purposes. Firstly - the music is beautiful and it's just very well done and pleasing to listen to. The voices are authentic and the musicianship is remarkable. I was listening to it in school and a student was interested by it. Next day - I had it on in the background while my students worked independently. I had them put their heads down and answer a survey about the music. Turns out most of them really liked it (which is SHOCKING for this age). Most of the ones who didn't like it however, said that it helped them focus and relaxed them. I also plan on having my class listen to it actively as a listening example instead of just passively as background. I expect good results. Bravo to the musicians on this album. Well done!"
