Not a Bad Scriabin Disc...

For Scriabin fans, this is not a bad disc. The pianist is a young Austrian (or German)--not famous, but I guess good enough to be featured on the gourmet MD&G label (which, by the way, Amazon mis-lists as "MP&G" [sic]).

The recording features Scriabin's Op. 11 Chopinesque preludes--which, nevertheless, are quite original and cosmopolitian in flavour--with a slight Russian undertaste.

The 8th Sonata is here well played, as is the earlier Beethovenish 3rd.

A good disc."
