CD Reviews

Alain Barrière in Concert
Alain Lemire | Ottawa, Ontario Canada | 11/18/2004
(1 out of 5 stars)

"First of all, I find that the audio engineering is of very poor quality. At times you can almost hear a hiss and some instruments are not well balanced. I understand that it is being played in a hall but it sounds like they are playing in a tunnel. Secondly, Mr. Barrière is not at his best I would rate is performane as poor especially coming from someone of this calibre. i.e. Sometimes he will hum the songs some other times he will sing many la la la, instead of the lyrics and he also talks during his song. Too often he gets his audience to sing with him and to me when I listen to a song I don't want to hear the audience, it's the artist that I want to hear. You can tell that his voice is not at his best, it's almost like he doesn't want to sing or maybe he is trying to spare his vocal cords. Thirdly, if I was a record company I would have never put something like that on the market because it is of poor quality from all aspects of the audio production. I rated this CD a big one and that's all it deserves. I am a big fan of Alain Barrière but this got to be the worst album that he has ever recorded."
Hugely Disappointing!

"Recorded from a live performance in 1963! It is a terrible waste of CD media! A 33 album, which was purchased by me in the late 60's has 20 times the quality of this junk CD. Alain Barriere sounds like a drunk, sick cow and the amount of audience noise obscures the entire CD. There is not a good song on the entire CD. This CD isn't worth 10 cents. Rating this CD with one star is a gift!"
