Synopsis

Album Description
2010 album from the British Alt-Rockers. Revolver Soul is deeper, darker and stronger and stranger than anything you've heard them do before. By the date of its release, Alabama 3 will have survived three record deals, three elections, two wars and two recessions. During that time, they struggled as 'hostages' to the fortune of big labels. This, their eighth album, is the first on their very own Hostage Records label. Recorded at their new studio in the heart of Brixton, the album features guest appearances from Shane MacGowan (Pogues) and Johnny Borrell (Razorlight). 13 tracks.

"First off I totally respect artists that grow with their sound and progress. Most of the artists I love Ive followed through their sound journeys. But this album is just all over the place style wise, and I dont just mean that song to song, I mean that within songs as well.

Ive followed A3 for years, have all of their albums, and in their last release, I noticed the greatest departure from what I considered their trademark sound. The sound this album makes is indecision. I really dont know what to say, its just so everywhere. Some songs I like are 'Oh Christ' (but that minute long into was so unneeded), and the next two tracks. 'Bad to the bone' (track 4) starts out pretty good until the overkill with all that is synth.

'Fix' just sounds really bad 80s soundtrack cut. 'I was a bad girl' sounds more like vocal art than a song. 'Hostage' is another 80s revisit. The interlude, 'Come ye Believers' is actually pretty cool. 'Keep the Powder Dry' would be an awesome song but that 80s synthesized voice treatment kills it. The next song, 'Vietnamistan' is pretty good. 'All Gods Children...' is fun, and I so wish I could cut it up to just the good parts. You know an album is DOA when the title song is forgettable. And the outro is also pretty good.

Im disappointed, genuinely. I love, love, love this band. And perhaps if you do, you would get it purely out of support. However, if you are new to Alabama 3, skip it. There is noting memorable here."
