On the night of April 17th 1941 during one of the worst air raids of the London 'blitz', a land-mine fell outside a small hotel in Jermyn Street, just of Piccadilly. Unfortunately, amongst the fatal casualties was one of Britain's most popular vocalists - his name was, of course Al Bowlly. That bomb ended, not only Al's life, but also his career as a singer at the very peak of his popularity. However, out of the ashes of that smoking hotel, like the fabled Phoenix rising from the flames, grew a legend - the legend of Al Bowlly. This has continued to grow during the intervening years until, at the present time Al Bowlly, his name and recordings, are more popular than Al himself could ever have dreamed possible during his, all to short, lifetime.
