CD Reviews

Brilliance...absolute brilliance!

"It's not everyday that an extremely talented Death Metal band utilizes a plethora of musical training and composes a body of work that leaves your mind numb and your jaw locked open...well, besides OPETH! And it's also hard to believe that the band in question has been releasing material since 1987!! Enter France's Agressor, a band whose performance prowess is only super-ceded by its adoration for the extreme! Switching from aromatic, acoustical medieval-folk melodies (complete wooden flute accompaniment) to blistering Death Metal is an art form in itself, for it truly takes a band with defined vision to effectively execute such a daunting task! Not only does Agressor succeed in this Herculean endeavor, the band does it with seemingly effortless precision, leaving the listener awestruck. Even a brutalized version of KING DIAMOND's "Welcome Home" is treated like child's play to this band! Dan Swanö and Mike Akerfeldt be warned, you guys have exceptionally gifted competition!"
Medieval Pleasure, modern joy...

"Welcome in the Agressor's death metal dimension... This group with a strange line-up (there are two different guys on the battery : one technic and one more brutal ...) exists since 10 years... This french group directed by the guitarist and producer delivers a fantastic death metal... Also very technic : with a great experience (first part of cradle of filth etc...), and brutal, this cd is very mystic and incredilbly good... With a title from King Diamond's himself (Welcome Home) and few others of ambiance with meideval instruments, this cd procures a real pleasure to the fan of death metal and the others... When I heard it at the first time, the change multiplicity of the style impressionned me... Agressor offers us a great moment of death metal music, and notice this : they producted it in their own home converted in a studio and the sound is unbelievable, very very clean for this type of production ... This cd is a really good one y recommand it to you... But do not forget that this is death metal !! The violence is here !!In conclusion, Agresssor shows that the technic and the brutality may be mixed... And what a demonstration !!!"
