Synopsis

Product Description
'White Crosses' is as powerful and as bold a rock record as one can imagine. The band roars like fighter jets screaming over a stadium on the anthemic title-track (with its shout along line about smashing the 4,000 crosses on a local church's lawn, ones that signify the number of babies aborted each day in the U.S.). Joining that is the escapist fury of 'Spanish Moss,' and the short stick of dynamite, 'Rapid Decompression.' 'New Wave' eschewed some of the roughness of the band's earlier efforts, but 'White Crosses' goes even further in filling out the band's wallop. With its twinkling piano and a glorious whoa-oa chorus, 'Because Of The Shame' could be an outtake from Bruce Springsteen's classic 'Born To Run.' 'Ache With Me' is a slow-jam that would make Paul Westerberg blush, while 'High Pressure Low' is Billy Idol meets fellow Gainesville native Tom Petty. 'This is my Florida record,' says Gabel. 'I spent a lot of time writing this record while driving directionless on forgotten Florida state roads, highly caffeinated, with albums like [Petty's] 'Full Moon Fever' blasting on my stereo.'

CD Reviews

My last good byes to a once great band.

"So iv been a fan of Against me! for almost 10 years. Pre "Against Me! Is Reinventing Axl Rose" even. All i had heard was a single track off the second disk of ANTI-FLAG's album "mobilize" (Track 21. I Still Love You Julie - Against Me!). I fell in love with these guys after just that track. I scoured the interwebs and could not find anything on these guys not even on A-F records site. So fast forward 1 year and out comes "Against Me! Is Reinventing Axl Rose" My life with more against me was in full effect! saw every show they played in Denver, bought all their CD and shirts. What made me love these guys so much was how they sang about things that pissed them off and it felt very genuine and raw. sorry and with out Warren Oakes this just isn't against me.

Like what you would get say from a Brittney Spears CD. This album is very possessed and fake. This feels like it was solely created to cater to the lowest common denominator. RIP Against Me! you where amazing before you sold your souls and values for money.

If you want good Against Me! every thing pre new wave is pure gold. new wave is 90% gold."

"I love Against Me! and have been a supportive fan for years but I cannot pretend that this album is any good. I sadly agree with the other 1 star ratings. Sorry Against Me!. Hopefully you will see the impact this album has on your fans and return to your roots, despite less profit."
